Easter/ANZAC Day Public Holidays

April is the month of the year with the most public holidays and where there are often variations from year to year and from State to State as to what days are the public holidays.

The list below sets out the holidays for Easter and ANZAC Day for 2015.

  • Good Friday, 3 April 2015– a public holiday in all States and Territories
  • Easter Saturday, 4 April 2015– a public holiday in all States and Territories, excluding Western Australia and Tasmania
  • Easter Sunday, 5 April 2015– New South Wales and Victoria only
  • Easter Monday, 6 April 2015– a public holiday in all States and Territories
  • ANZAC Day, Saturday 25 April 2015– a public holiday in all States and Territories
  • Monday, 27 April 2015– a public holiday only in Western Australia

Employers please note that in Western Australia both the ANZAC Day and the following Monday are both public holidays and in Victoria Easter Sunday has just been added as a public holiday for this year.

Employers covered by Modern Awards will need to ensure that they are meeting their obligations in relation to the payment of penalty rates on these days. Businesses that are covered by an enterprise bargaining agreement should refer to that Agreement to determine what their obligations are.
